I chose a career in law based on a belief that people who need help should be able to find it. I have a strong humanitarian interest in the law’s impact on people in the community.

I was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 2009. I have spent the majority of my professional career at Poole Lawyers, where the core beliefs are that law should be practiced in an ethical and professional manner and that the client must come first.

Around the time I joined Poole Lawyers, I began volunteering at Calgary Legal Guidance. From 2010-2013, I provided information concerning civil and landlord/tenant matters to Calgary citizens at free legal guidance clinics. Since 2017, I continue to contribute to my community by volunteering as a board member in my local community association.

I have appeared before the Provincial Court of Alberta, the Court of Queen’s Bench and the Court of Appeal. I have experience with a variety of litigation matters relating to professional malpractice claims, corporate-commercial disputes and a variety of other matters.

As a team at Poole Lawyers, we all have a strong calling to help people get back to as whole as possible and to regain trust in the legal system. People often come to us when they are at their lowest. Malpractice claims against professionals, including lawyers, is an area of the law that is complex and requires a depth of experience to be successful. It’s an area of law that we have developed a significant amount of experience and skill, and claims against lawyers in particular is one where few other law firms practice. A significant portion of our caseload is files against other professionals. We have developed a reputation for being able and willing to stand up to strong opposition from opposing counsel.

As advocates for our clients, we take an empathetic and holistic approach. Each client is different and as their advisors, we must take the time to understand them individually and to advise them on a course of action that leaves them in the best position not just financially, but also mentally, physically and emotionally.

There are times when starting the litigation process is not in a client’s best interests. Before we provide any legal advice, we ensure we understand the situation. There may be other choices that lead to better outcomes for the client, depending on their goals.

What makes it all worthwhile for each one of us at Poole Lawyers is when we can resolve a file and reach a resolution with the other side which allows our clients to move on with their lives and to close the book on that chapter.

In my personal life, I am married to Jenelle and proud father to Cohen and Ellena. When I’m not working, I like to read, watch hockey, and spend time with family and friends.
